Pennant Update – Start date put back one week

The Region’s Pennant Committee met earlier today to consider the start date for both Weekend and Midweek Pennant and review and approve the various documents required to manage our competition.

As a result of the surge of Covid-19 cases within our region, over the past few days, it was decided to put our start date back by one week. The committee believes that:

• time is required to ascertain whether the current surge of cases stabilises,
• clubs may need more time to ensure that their members can meet the mandate of double vaccination requirement to play bowls and enter clubs,
• Community Sport is not allowed until 80% double vaccination is achieved, which will occur at the end of October. However, any delay to easing of restrictions may impact on our start date.

Pennant will commence:  Weekend 13th November and Midweek 16th November.
